Catherine L. Porter, "Cathy", age 60 of Akron, Ohio, died on April 11, 2018 at Akron City Hospital.
She was born on September 9, 1957 in Akron, the daughter of Margaret D. (nee Starr) Collins of Akron and the late William B. Collins.
Cathy was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and crafts, and watching soap operas. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Other than her mother, additional survivors include her husband, Billy R. Porter, whom she married on July 29, 1978; her sons, Robert (Terra) Porter and Michael (Tracy) Porter; her grandsons, Tyler and Christopher Porter. Her siblings also survive, Brad (Cindy) Collins, Bob (Brenda) Collins, and Tina Lockard Collins; one niece, Stephanie Potter, and one nephew, Nick Collins.
Other than her father, Cathy's maternal grandmother also preceded her in death, Annie P. (nee Plunkett) Starr.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Father Jonathan Zingales will celebrate Catherine's life.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
