Celestia Bell Simons, "Sue", age 94 of Akron, Ohio, died on October 14, 2020 at Wind Song Care Center.
She was born on December 29, 1925 in Elmira, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Henry and Opal (nee Moore) Cottrill.
Sue was the owner and operator, from the mid 1960s until 1989, of the Corral Sandwich Shop here in Akron, her employees were like her family, she loved them all. Many children lived with her throughout the years. She enjoyed her family and friends, and loved to be around people. She was a great hostess, especially for the holidays. In her younger years, Sue traveled and camped with her family.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Patricia "Patty") Davis, Carol (Alva "Al") Hamrick and Edward Simons; her grandchildren, Shane (Patty) Davis, Joe Davis, Alex (Kim) Hamrick and Steven Simons; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her step-children, Glenda Widner, Norma (Bob) McMichael and Bob (Lois) Davis and their families.
Celestia's sister also survives, Esther Wilson.
Other than her parents, Celestia was preceded in death by her first husband, Okey Davis; her second husband, Donald Simons; her granddaughter, Rhonda Roberts; and her step-son, Darrell Davis.
Also preceding her in death were her three brothers, Wallace, Dolan and Darius Cottrill.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Rev. Dwayne Ray will celebrate Celestia's life.
Family and friends may visit from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the funeral home on Sunday.
