Chad J. Gravesmill

January 22, 1994 — January 12, 2017

Chad J. Gravesmill, 22, of Akron, Ohio was taken from this world on January 12th 2017, while surrounded by friends and family, after an amazingly fought battle with an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder. So it goes. Chad was born on the 22nd of January 1994 in Akron, Ohio. In his younger years Chad enjoyed playing baseball and football and this became a vessel for many of the friendships that served him until his final days. A graduate of the 2012 class of Ellet High School, Chad was loved by all and will be missed by a great many. Voted "Best Dressed" by his classmates, Chad definitely always enjoyed having his own unique sense of style that made him stand out in a crowd. He was also proud of the fact that despite his smaller frame he still participated in high school football. At Ellet, it was easy for Chad to form bonds with a very eclectic group of people due to his great personality.

After graduation, Chad went on to study Digital Sciences at Kent State University. Technologies of all kinds were always a true passion of his. He found great enjoyment in escaping reality through the act of video gaming. Specifically, Chad loved games such as Call of Duty, BioShock and Guitar Hero/Rock Band. Movies, music, books, TV shows and podcasts were also something that he had very unique tastes in. Chad valued having an open mind on any topic he could learn about or research on reddit/podcasts and always got very excited to share his ideologies with others.

Chad leaves behind parents, Mark and Teresa Gravesmill (Shanks); brothers, Cory Gravesmill and Zack Wagner; grandparents, Gladys Shanks (Carey) and Fred Gravesmill; dogs, Bolt and Winnie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles D. Shanks, Jeannine Gravesmill and Lyvonne Gravesmill (Jarvis).

Special thanks to the multitude of great staff members who were brought into Chad's life during his final battle. His family would also like to recognize the Don Martens Critical Care Transport Team and the Justin T. Rodgers Hospice Care Center that allowed Chad to have his final wishes granted.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 12-2 pm and 4-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A Celebration of Life memorial service to be held later in the week.
