Chandler C. VanHorn born on Monday, August 11, 2003 took his last breath surrounded by his mommy and daddy after other family left for some rest on Thursday, December 21, 2017. He survived Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer though still in treatment. His cancer returned in the form of Leptomeningeal Disease. He got his Wish Trip which was a Trip to FL with his family. FL meant Universal but this time included Disney World and new family at Give Kids the World. He was an 8th grader at Ohio Virtual Academy. Prior to coming home for school he attended Preston and DeWitt Elementary schools. He was a resident of Cuyahoga Falls. His only church home was Pilgrim United Church of Christ. He was a lover of LEGOs. LEGO kits from Ninjago, Star Wars, The Hobbit, Marvel and DC and Harry Potter.
He loved watching and going to the movies, and Harry Potter, Universal and WWE. RAW on Mondays and Smackdown on Tuesdays. He is survived by his mother (Terry), father (Jason) and older brother (James). Also his grandparents (Patricia and James Dawson) and grandmother (Kay King). His uncle Chris (Michele McKenzie) Platis. And 2 aunts, 5 cousins and many more. Chandler was preceded in death by his Great Granny (Lucy King), Great Uncle Don (Ginger) Payne and Grandfather before he was born (James VanHorn) and countless other family that greeted him in Heaven. His parents would like to thank the staff of the 5600 Unit and Oncology Clinic at Akron Children's Hospital. They asked the "silly questions". They showed anger but through it all you helped them feel comfortable and as family. They love you all. Always.
His family will greet family and friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 between 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd, Akron 44305. Funeral service to celebrate Chandler's life will be given by Rev. Kirk Bruce and Rev. Matthew Tweddle on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM followed with Burial service at Hillside Cemetery, 1025 Canton Rd, Akron 44312. A luncheon will be shared afterwards at Old Portage Masonic Temple, 1589 Akron Peninsula Rd, Akron 44313 prepared by Order of the Eastern Star, Billow Chapter #483.
