Charles Kensie Anthony

November 29, 1937 — July 21, 2023

Charles Kensie Anthony died July 21, 2023, at Summa Health System in Akron. He was born in Braxton County, WV, on November 29, 1937, and spent his youth hunting and fishing in the mountains and rivers of West Virginia. He graduated from Richwood (WV) High School before serving in the U.S. Air Force for four years. For over 30 years, he was employed by Consolidated Freightways in Richfield, OH, where he received numerous safe driving awards.

He lived in Mogadore, OH, for 62 years, and always enjoyed Friday night football games. He was an avid golfer, and hit a hole-in-one in 1983. In later years, he was a faithful fan of the Cleveland Guardians, and enjoyed watching ballgames with family. He was also a skilled handyman, often lending his time and talent to help friends, family, and neighbors. Above all, he cherished family trips to Holden Beach, NC, and simply spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children: Bev (Kevin) Burtzlaff, Cindy (Vinny) Diorio, Richard (Lisa) Anthony, and Mark Anthony. He was beloved as "Poppy" to Julie Anthony; Stephen, Nathan, and Joseph Burtzlaff; James (Jill), Sean (Dani), and Dana Anthony; and great-granddaughter Gwen Anthony. He is also survived by Joyce Anthony, to whom he was married for 37 years while raising their family.

Also, he is survived by a sister, Louise (Jerry) McComas, a brother, Kenneth Anthony, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Addie Anthony, and sisters Zenna Matheney and Barbara Kelly. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.
