Charles E. Childress
Charles E. Childress, AKA "Hard Charging Charming Charlie Childress" passed away on January 18, 2016. He was born July 7, 1938 in Richlands, VA to the late William W. Childress and Lillian Mosley Childress. Charlie attended Buchtel High School in Akron. He served in the US Marine Corps and was the owner of Castle Auto Sales.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Fern Carson, George Childress, and Raymond Childress. Charlie is survived by his wife, Deanna Childress; daughter, Sheila (Mark) Hicks, son Charles Childress II; and adopted daughters, Lisa Golomboski and Tonya Greathouse; siblings, Wanda Blankenship, Jean Lake, Joan Houger and Kenneth Childress; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday January 27, 2016 from 3-6pm with the funeral service starting at 6pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Pastor George Walters officiating. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hamilton, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Akron General Hospital VNS Hospice, 3358 Ridgewood Rd. Akron, OH 44333.
