Charles G. Howard, 81, of Akron, passed away October 16, 2006 at his residence. He was born April 11, 1925 in Akron, Ohio to the late Cecil L. & Ora L. (Vaughn) Howard. Charles enjoyed the outdoors, his John Deere and trucks. He retired after 44 years of service from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Above all, he loved his family and took great delight in his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald G. and daughter, Donna L. Howard; brothers, Dean, Marvin and Larry Howard. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, June R. (Rayman) Howard of Akron; daughters, Sue (Kevin) France of Charleston WV and Laurie (Tom) Derrig of Akron; grandchildren, Allison (Pat) Currid of CA, Kevin France of Toronto, Canada, Brittney and Patrick France of Charleston WV, Tommy and Danny Derrig both of Akron; two great-grandchildren and many special friends. Family and friends may call on Friday, October 20th, from 4 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be conducted Saturday October 21st, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society.
