Charles (Lucky) Henthorn, 91, of Akron went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2020. Lucky was born in Woodsfield, Ohio, on October 15, 1928, to the late Everett and Susie Henthorn. He was a Navy veteran and worked in the aerospace field for 38 years.
Throughout his lifetime, he loved country music. He played while in the Navy, then later he was known as Tex Randall with the Ramblers. God lead him more into gospel music and he organized and lead the Gospel Sounds group for many years, playing in various churches and nursing homes.
Lucky was a long-time member of the Akron Baptist Temple, where he and his wife, Barbara, served as Sunday School Superintendents for 40 years. He and Barbara, married for 67 years, are now together again.
He will be greatly missed by son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sarah Henthorn; Grandson Brandon (Megan) Henthorn; Great Grandson Carter; Marilyn and Tony Menich and family; Donna Arnett, Mitzie Burcham; Brother, Harry Henthorn; Sister, Wanda Blackstone; and a host of relatives and friends.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 10 a.m. to noon with the service at noon with Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
