Charles J. Jones, of Akron, Ohio, entered into the presence of the Lord on December 26, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on July 23, 1945, Charles was deeply admired for his enduring faith, vibrant sense of humor, and steadfast commitment to his family and friends.
Charles’ spiritual journey began at the Salvation Army Citadel Corps in Akron, where he played the cornet in the church band, combining his love for music with his devotion to worship. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life as a member of Maranatha Bible Church before returning to his roots at the Salvation Army Citadel Corps, where he continued to walk faithfully with the Lord.
A skilled painting contractor and later a master carpenter by trade, Charles owned and operated his own business for over four decades. Renowned for his meticulous craftsmanship, hard work and commitment to excellence, he lived by the principle: "If you are going to do something, it better be done right." Outside of work, Charles embraced life’s adventures with enthusiasm. Whether riding his Goldwing motorcycle or cruising in his Corvette, he found joy on the open road alongside friends who shared his passions.
Charles is survived by his loving children: Deborah Perkins (Jeffrey Morris), Tina Casalinova (David), Melinda Harris, and Brian Jones; his sister Tammie Molnar; and stepfather John O’Brien. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren—Jared Palmer (Jessamyn), Jacob Palmer (Marianna), Mario Perkins (Sully), David Casalinova, Angela Casalinova, Taylor Tharpe, Lisa Langham-Horak, Joseph Langham-Horak, Jamie Jones, and Brian Jones—and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jan Jones; parents Clarinda O’Brien and Russell Jones; brother Frank Jones; and sister Betty James.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 12th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (3:00 Fellowship, Service to begin at 4:00) at The Salvation Army Citadel Corps, 190 S Maple Street, Akron, Ohio.
