Charles K. Pope
Charles Pope, 74, of North Canton passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Akron, OH he was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Springfield High School. After graduation he proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves. After retiring from Merrill Lynch in 2006 he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and his dogs, Gracie and Lacie. He maintained his sense of humor and quick wit up until the very end and created his Dime n Pin Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances and Joseph Pope; brother, James; sisters, Peggy Aulino and Patricia Long. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Karen (Ferrell); daughters Traci (Dave) Sturm of Portage Lakes, Jennifer (Mark) Kynett of Green, and Melissa (Brian) Sabo of North Canton; brother, Robert (Patty) Pope of Uniontown; grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Kayla, Zach, Gerry, Shane, Cayden and Paisley.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers of Select Specialty at Mercy Hospital and VHS nurses, Jody, Erin and Kim.
Family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305 on Monday, February 15, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A memorial service will follow.
