Charles Rife Jr.
After 90 blessed years, the man we all adored has been called to his heavenly home. Charles "Jupe" Rife, Jr. passed away March 4, 2016 surrounded by the family he so dearly loved. At the age of 17, Jupe proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Navy where he received many ribbons, stars, and unofficial title of strongest swimmer/diver aboard the USS Dupage. Jupe attended Ellet Grace Brethren Church, and was a past star member of their basketball and softball teams. After retiring from Goodyear, Jupe and his wife, Helen, spent 18 sun-filled summers in Myrtle Beach, relishing visits from their children and grandchildren.
In heaven to welcome him are his parents, Charlie and Vena Rife; brothers, Harold and Jack; and son in-law, Chuck Minick. He leaves to cherish his memory, Helen, his loving wife of 68 years; children, Patricia, Susie, Charles and Bob; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and brother, Richard (Mary). Dearest Dad- thank you for always loving us unconditionally. We will continue to love and miss you every day of our lives. See you when we get there. The family would like to thank Linda, Mark, Ellen and Dr. Mark Smith for the care and compassion provided during this difficult time.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday March 8, 2016 from 11-12pm with the service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Pastor Jonathan Carey officiating.
