Charles Whitaker

Charles W. Whitaker, 88, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2005. Charles served with the US Army for six years during WWII; retired from Mohawk Tire Co; and was a member of Lakemore United Methodist Church. He was a loving and caring father and husband and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Lettie; daughters Connie (Jim) Johnson and Charlotte "Sherry" Miller (Sam Frankina); sisters June McElwain and Mabel Blackwell; brother Jack Whitaker; grandchildren Laura Hewitt, Brian Johnson, Traci Miller, and Timothy Miller; and 7 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday, 12 to 3 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with a funeral service at 3 p.m. Interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
