Charlie "Jay" Shoates IV, 40, passed away and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2017 after a long illness. Charlie, lovingly known as Jay by family, was the oldest child of Charlie Shoates III and Yvonne Shoates.
He was born on July 21, 1977. As a child he was raised to love the Lord and accepted Christ at a young age. He attended John R. Buchtel High School and graduated in 1995. He worked several years at Rotovational Molding and Prestige Maintenance.
He was an avid New York Giants fan and a game wouldn't go by without him watching. He was also passionate about fishing and attending high school football games.
He leaves to celebrate his life, parents Charlie and Yvonne Shoates, siblings Carlisa and Christopher Shoates, grandparents Charlie Jr. and Lillie Shoates, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces, special friend La' Shanda Scott of Milledgeville, GA, the (SSVC) Sunset View Crew, and his beloved fur friends Mischief and Mr. Ralph Fur-lee. Preceded in death by grandfather and grandmother Archie and Alberta Lucas and uncles Harvey, Michael and Ronald (Pete) Lucas.
Celebration of life service well be held Saturday December 16, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 327 Cuyahoga St., Akron, OH 44310, eulogy by Rev. Dr. Robert Golson.
