Charlie W. Thompson, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 28, 2007 in Akron, Ohio. Charlie was born September 20, 1919 in Iron City, Tennessee. He was employed with Babcock & Wilcox for 25 years and retired in 1975. Charlie attended Cottage Grove Evangelical Congregational Church. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Barbara and Dorothy. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marjorie C. Thompson. He was the loving father of eight children; sons, Jasper (Brenda) Thompson of Lawrenceburg IN, Charles (JoAnn) Thompson of Florence AL; daughters, Paulette Arbuthnot of N. Lauderdale FL, Joyce Elaine (Dan) Seale of Springfield MO, Glenda (John) Sugg of Cuyahoga Falls OH, and Sue (Todd) Shimp of Akron OH; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl (Clarence) Borden, Reba Chaney and Marie McBreyer; one brother, Raymond (Berdie) Thompson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. concluding with a short service at 7 p.m. Burial will take place in Collinwood, Tennessee.
