Charlotte Battle, age 78, passed away at her home on Monday May 6, 2019 surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born in Columbiana, Ohio to the late John and Gertrude Hough. She graduated in 1958 from Columbiana High School. In 1959, she became the devoted wife of Robert Battle. Charlotte's passion was children, and she joyfully welcomed sons, Tracy, Tony, and Mike. To know Charlotte was to feel loved. She had a quick smile and a kind word to all she met. She always put others before herself. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to tutor children at Betty Jane Elementary School. To those who knew her, she was "Granny," it didn't matter if you were family or not. She has left an indelible mark of love on all who were blessed to know her.
Charlotte will be missed by her husband, Bob; sons, Tracy (Julie Ellison), Tony (Stacey), and Mike (Jane); 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Walter (Mary) Hough, Elizabeth (the late Richard) Morrison, Jim Hough, Charles (Norma) Hough, Gloria (the late Thomas) Richards, and Catherine (the late Karl) Hahner.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her siblings, Esther (Richard) Gaither, Laura (John) Holisky, Tillie (Joe) Lopshansky, and Jack Hough.
Friends and family are welcome to visit on Sunday May 12, 2019 from 5pm until 7pm at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Monday May 13, 2019 at 10am. Interment will take place at Columbiana Cemetery in Columbiana, Ohio.
