Cheryl Anita Ivascu

Cheryl Anita Ivascu, 69, of Akron, passed away on July 28, 2023. She was born in Akron on September 4, 1953 to the late Clyde and Lena {Gibson} Merriner.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her brothers James (Ruth) and Richard Merriner and infant sister Joan Lorraine Merriner.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Mihai; daughters Julie and Leah Ivascu; brothers Thomas (Patricia), Charles (Sue) and Terry Merriner; sister-in-law Margaret Merriner.

Cheryl was a 1971 graduate of Green High School. She worked as a data entry specialist, retiring from Coleman Data Solutions in October of 2020. Cheryl was a longtime member of Arlington Church of the Nazarene. She shared her faith with her loved ones, often by an encouraging weekday text with a daily Bible verse.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10:30 am until the funeral service begins at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Darrell Frazier officiating.
