Chester E. Yensen, 78, of Springfield Twp., went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2012. Chester was born on May 5, 1934 to the late Chester and Edna (Means). Chet retired from Seal Master Corporation in 1999 and was a member of New Apostolic Church for over 35 years. Chet was a local jazz musician, performing with the Nuff Rey Trio. He also toured with the Collegians in the 1950's. He was a member of the Akron Federation of Musicians.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Chester, Jr.; wife, Lois Marie Yensen; sister, Mary Deisz; and brothers, Wesley "Butch" and Kenneth Yensen. Survivors include daughters, Lori (Craig) Humphreys, of Green and Denise Smith, of Oregon; son, David Yensen, of Akron; sisters, Edna Yuras, of Parma and Crystal Summerlin, of Ravenna; brother, Walter Yensen, of Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, 4-7 p.m., at New Apostolic Church, 356 Eastwood Ave., Tallmadge, with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Apostolic Church.
