Christopher Curtis Mckee

May 23, 1979 — February 24, 2024

Our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and "bonus" father, Chris, aka "Loafie," went to be with his father, Richard A. McKee, on Saturday, February 24, 2024, after Chris also lost his own valiant battle with cancer. Chris was born on May 23, 1979, in Jackson, Michigan. He lived in Brooklyn, Michigan until he was 4 years old, when the family returned to Akron, Ohio.

Chris is survived by his beloved intended wife of 6 years, Angela "Angie" Corbett-McKee; his devoted mother, Susan Linda (Neal) Prince (& Fred Redzanic); his older sister (and occasional third parent), Michele McKee; his step-mother, Lori Simonelli-McKee, and his beautiful children, Harlie McKee (22), Jack McKee (11), and his equally loved and beautiful step-children (Chris and Angie prefer the collective term "bonus" children), Dominik Corbett (21), Mattie Burke (19), Ren Burke (17), and Raven Burke (16). On his Father's side, Chris is also survived by three aunts, Brenda (& Dennis) Murphy, Sharon (& Alex) Darago and Jacki (& Mark) Fiocca, and two uncles William McKee (Sharon) and John McKee, and their many children; and on his Mother's side, Chris is survived by his Aunt Karen (Jim) Holm, and their two children.

Chris was the type of man that was both comfortable and happy, at the center of a truly unique blended "modern" family, all of which respected and loved him dearly. Chris and Angie had amazing co-parenting relationships with Chris' former spouse, Sarah Michael (Mother to Jack, Mattie and Ren) and her husband Jay Johnson, as well as Neil Burke, (father of Raven, Mattie and Ren) and Nikki Burke (mother of Raven) and her life partner, Liz Dykes. They all have worked together to do their best to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for all of their children, and "bonus" children.

Chris went to school in the Akron area, including Archbishop Hoban High School ("Hoban"), where he graduated in 1997. While at Hoban, Chris participated in many extra-curricular sports and other activities, such as playing football as an offensive tackle, playing bass in the Marching Band and tympany in concert band, tossing shot put and discus on the track team, building sets for various Theatre Arts productions, as well as playing Dagorhir and LARPing. Also while at Hoban, Chris met his best friend for life, his veritable "brother from another Mother," Chris Johnson aka Knifeshoe.

Chris attended college at the University of Toledo and Kent State University and eventually settled on a career, which he really enjoyed, at Associated Materials, Inc., in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Chris also volunteered to escort women to and from Northeast Ohio Women's Center reproductive clinic(s) in the Akron area. His size and gentle, but firm temperament, were ideally suited to this task.

Chris was a true "gentle" giant of a man, with a booming voice and giant bear paws and even better bear hugs; and he was very much loved by his family and friends for so many things, including his boundless kindness, heart as big as he was, and his true warmth of spirit. His 'larger than life' presence will be tremendously missed by all who knew him.

Chris' favorite quote was: "The 'amazing' can only be created by facing fear, risk, and failure during the process." Christopher Reeves' Superman, Movie (1978).
We love you more, Superman.
