Christopher O. Messenger, 51, of Akron, passed away January 20, 2012. He was born in Akron on November 20, 1960 to the late James and Margaret Messenger. Chris was a U.S. Army veteran, having proudly served a tour of duty in Germany. He was a manager of the ODOT District 4 Permit Division for 25 years. In his free time, he was an avid rugby fan and enjoyed photography and traveling. A history buff, Chris spent many hours developing a history page on Facebook. Above all, he loved to have fun with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Monica Davis. He will be deeply missed by his children, Janeen (Thad) Frost, Melissa (Daniel) Litten, and Gregory Sigel; sisters, Patricia Messenger and Maura (Dennis) Dismuke; brothers, James (Lynn) Messenger, Paul (Erika) Messenger, and Samuel Messenger; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Lily Frost, Allison and Gage Litten. Visitation will be Wednesday January 25 from 4-6 followed by a 6:00 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chris's family.
