Clayton L. Sanders

Clayton L. Sanders, 64, of Kent, departed this life on May 16, 2006, and is now singing and rejoicing in heaven. Clayton was a lifelong Boy Scout and worked at youth camps at the Akron Baptist Temple. He was a Naval Reservist and attended Hower Vocational Trade School with a sheet metal vocation. Clayton worked at General Tire & Rubber Company in Akron for 23 years until they closed their doors in 1982. He graduated from Kent State University in May of 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in glassblowing. Clayton was a member of Rockton Lodge #316 and the Kent Woodcarver's Club. He attended Maranatha Bible Church in Akron, and was active in the Senior Adult Bible Fellowship which he dearly loved. Clayton is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Belknap) Sanders; mother, Maggie Dye; daughter, Rachell (William) Keenan; 10 grandchildren; sister, Helen (David) Campbell; brother, Jerry (Jo An) Sanders; many dear friends and family. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with Masonic Services at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Donald Rohrbacher officiating. Interment will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
