Clifton E. Shaffer
Clifton E. Shaffer, 77, of Tallmadge, passed away August 16, 2008. Cliff was born August 10, 1931 in Akron to the late Clifton E. and Flossie Shaffer, Sr. He served as a vice president at Evans Savings, Centran Bank, and Key Corp. and later was an academic advisor at Akron University for 17 years. In his free time, Cliff enjoyed hiking in the MetroParks and his many trips to Alabama where he fished on the Coosa River with his good friend, Jim. Cliff was an accomplished musician with a beautiful tenor voice. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Karole; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Secrist and Jennifer Jones; sons, Tim (Karen) Shank and Andy Shaffer; grandchildren, Christopher and Marin Shank, Melissa Gordon, and Mindy, Beth, and Ben Secrist; brother, Terry (Gloria) Shank; sisters Cathy (Don) Smathers and Joyce Hundley; loving nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday from 11-1 followed by a 1 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Rev. Michael Shaub officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Town Hall II Med Clinic, 155 N. Water St., Kent, OH 44240.
