Clyde L. Anker, 74, went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2018. A longtime Akron resident, he was born October 6, 1943 in Cambridge, OH to late parents Corwin and Opal (Vance) Anker. Clyde was a simple man and appreciated the small things in life. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. No matter his own health challenges, he took a daily roll call of each family member and their well-being. His family and friends were his life. Some of his simple pleasures included country and gospel music, long rides with Thomalie and the companionship of a man's best friend… his dog Scrappy.
In addition to his parents, Clyde is preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn (Bill) Gregg; and brother-in-law, Benny Harper. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Thomalie; children, Aimee (Simon) Camacho, Jay (Dana) Anker, Kimberly Jewell, Lori Falkner; grandchildren, Mitchell, Macey, Monty, Karli, Kyle; sister, Ruth Ann Harper; best-buddy, Scrappy; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11am. Interment at Manchester Cemetery to follow. The family would like to thank the staff at Select Specialty Hospital for the care he received.
