Clyde H. Weidaw

Clyde H. Weidaw passed away peacefully on January 4, 2013 of complications related to Parkinson's Disease. He was born on August 6, 1935 to Lloyd and Viola (Bixler) Weidaw. Clyde graduated from Springfield High School in 1953 as class president. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Gillenwater, and they remained happily married for over 52 years.

Clyde worked at Goodyear Tire for over 41 years. He began as a Machine Apprentice and moved to an Expediter. Clyde spent several years in N. Carolina and Brazil opening new plants. He retired as Manager of Transportation Garage. In his spare time, Clyde enjoyed bowling and golf.

He carded a hole-in-one at Maplecrest in 1966. He supported all his Cleveland sports teams even during the bad years. When his grandson Jeremy began playing sports, Clyde was on of his biggest fans!

Most of all, Clyde enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was a very kind, loving and supportive man. His family always came first. His son-in-law Duane remarked that in 25 years he never heard Clyde say anything bad about another person. During Clyde's last few months, he was especially proud of his new great-grand-daughter Madeline Ruth.

Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Gillenwater); brothers, Lloyd and Paul Weidaw, Ralph Bixler; brother-in-law, Louis Park and daughter-in-law, Karen (Zimmerman) Weidaw.

Survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Duane) Mills; son, James Weidaw; grandson, Jeremy (Amanda) Cates; great-grand-daughter, Madeline Ruth; special big sister, Elizabeth (Louis) Park; sister-in- law, Mary Lou Weidaw; many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, January 8, from 5-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will follow calling hours at 7 p.m. with Rev. Larry Mills officiating.
