Clyde Bryant Oliver Sr.

June 9, 1933 — May 1, 2022

Clyde Bryant Oliver Sr., 88 of Akron passed away at home with family by his side on May 1, 2022. Clyde was born on June the 9th, 1933 to the late William and Ressie {Hammond} Oliver.

Clyde will be forever missed by his children, Rick and Mary Lou, Lynn, Kenny and Marie, Gary and Sheri, Cliff, Clyde Jr., Kim (Bo) and Kevin Williams, and Lori Boutin; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and special family friends Bob Humphrey and Joe Robinson.

He also leaves behind his baby brother Johnny and Mary Oliver; brothers-in-law, Bud (Cathy), Kenny, Charlie, Pat (Sue), and Jeff (Darlene); sister-in-law Dottie and many nieces and nephews who all held a special place in Uncle Clyde's heart.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn; son-in-law Clark Boutin; great-grandson Hunter Allen; brothers Clarence (Tim), William (June), James (Byrd), and Georgie.

Clyde served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a brick mason most of his life where he got to work alongside his brother June for many years as well as some of his nephews and sons. He also spent a few years paving roads with his brothers Tim and Johnny. Later he spent many years doing masonry work with his best buddy Harold "Shorty" Smith.

Clyde loved his bluegrass music. He was often found at a local bluegrass show or festival with his bluegrass family by his side. Many times the musicians would gather in Ma and Pa's house or front yard and pick for hours. Talk about a man in his glory.

Clyde also enjoyed Pokeno nights with his kids, grandkids and friends that would gather at his house to play, cookouts with family, Sunday dinners, sweets of any kind but most notably no-bake cookies and peanut butter fudge, mowing his almost two acres of land, and any time he had the opportunity to be at a gathering with family and friends.
