Clyde W. Frye
Clyde W. Frye, 86, passed away to be with the Lord on March 20, 2011. He was born in Clarksburg, WV, moving to Akron where he retired from Goodyear Aerospace as a rigger. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne serving in World War II, and was past Post Commander of the Mogadore VFW Post #8487. Clyde was an active member of the Goodyear Hunting and Fishing Club. He was also a member of the Harmony Baptist Church. Clyde was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha; brother, James; sisters, Ethel Baldwin, and Alice Workman; brother-in-law, Paul Glaspel; grandson, John Simon; and granddaughter, Kara Stanley. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Carolyn; children, Roger (Judy) and Brenda (Greg) Burton; step-children, Sheryl Morgan, Jerry Legg, Janene (Keith) McQuain, Lynda Stanley, and Dan (Kim) Legg; 3 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Glaspel; brothers, Charles (Faye) and Herman (Dixie); and many other family members and friends. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 22, from 4 to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a military service will be conducted by the Mogadore VFW Post #8487 at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 23, at 11 am with Pastor Bernard Christy officiating. Burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church.
