Conrad Michael Currey

Conrad Michael"Mike" Currey, 59, passed away peacefully at home December 31, 2022 after a year and a half long struggle with lung cancer. Mike was a teacher at Green Local Schools and most recently taught 7th grade math at Green Middle School. Mr. Currey was known for his humor, endless supply of sweaters and never wearing the same pair of shoes twice during the school year. Even though he hated to admit it Mike always enjoyed when former students would recognize him somewhere, yell "Mr. Currey!!, and tell him how he was one of their favorite teachers. Mike had a special connection with all the teachers and staff at the school and they will greatly miss him.

Mike loved the beach or floating in his pool during the summer, camping (only in a tent!), skiing, and working in his amazing garden to keep it looking that way. On vacations, he liked to wander the stores and sightsee, but he would let you know when it was time to pitstop for an early afternoon drink. His Halloween parties were memorable, but he and his husband were known for their insane Christmas decorations including trees in every room of the house and hundreds of nutcrackers. Mike enjoyed hanging out with friends and family and was always reaching out to set up parties, meet up for dinner or gather for game nights. His children were a constant source of joy for Mike and his eyes would light up when he received grandson updates during his illness.

Preceded in death by his father, David Currey and brother, Kevin Currey, he will be sadly missed by his husband, Brett Riebau; children, Joshua Currey, Alyssa (Preston) Ptak, Andrea Currey; grandson, Porter Ptak; mother, Jean Currey; stepmother, Janet Currey; siblings, David (Monica) Currey, Kim Currey (Gary Price); nephews, Jesse Blanch, Dylan Blanch; nieces, Giulianna Currey, Cerafina Currey.

Cremation has already occurred. Following Mike's wishes, friends and family will be invited to a party to celebrate his life in lieu of a service.
