Constance "Connie" A. Bell, 78, of Akron, passed away on January 22, 2018. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on
March 7, 1939, to the late Derrick and Ada Bell, Connie graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 1961 and moved to Ohio to begin her lifelong teaching career. She spent a portion of her 39.5 years of service as a Supervising Teacher for the "S.K.I.P." program for the Akron Public Schools before returning to the classroom where she retired as a second grade teacher. In 1966, she received the Martha Holden Jennings Scholar award which recognizes a teacher's commitment to deep learning and excellent teaching. Connie also served on the executive board and did consultant work for Kandy Kane, Ed Davis, and Summit Lake Day Care Centers in Akron.
Connie loved teaching and also enjoyed reading, sewing, jazz music, crossword puzzles and watching football. She always enjoyed going back to Pittsburgh to visit family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Derrick and Charles.
Left to cherish her memory is her only daughter and pride and joy, Shani (Miguel) Pacheco; grandson, Cruz Pacheco; sister, Janet Bell; a host of nephews and cousins; special friends Romanda and Gary Maserang; the Pringle family; Dorothy Brown; and the Liggins Family.
A memorial service will take place at 11am on Monday January 29, 2018 at Newcomer, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, OH 44305. Friends and family may visit from 10am - 11am.
