Cynthia Ann Ponos

November 22, 1956 — April 19, 2024

Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Ponos, 67, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024.

Cindy was born November 22, 1956 in Santa Ana, CA to Walter and Megan (Evans) Limbach Sr. She was a "military brat" and traveled to various duty stations, including South Africa during her youth. She graduated from Quantico High School in 1974. She spent her adult life in Akron and received a Masters Degree from Akron University. She was employed by Akron Public Schools for over 28 years before being retired with a disability due to Multiple Sclerosis (MS). After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the VA Clinic and received a Presidential award for volunteerism. She continuously served as the advocate and champion on issues relevant to veteran's care. Her tenacity was evident on whatever issues she believed needed attention.
Cindy is preceded in death by her husband Peter Ponos and her mother Megan.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Jim Corall and his son Max; her father Walter Limbach Sr. and stepmother Joan Engel of Pensacola, FL; brothers Jack Limbach of Hilton Head, SC; Chuck Limbach of Rockwell, NC and Walter Jr. "Judd" (Meredith Marchand) along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her best friend Maryann Clark and her children.

We will miss her enthusiasm for living life to the fullest, her infectious personality, and her creativity in knitting hats, scarves, making greeting cards and sending generous care packages to her loved ones. Her courageous fight with cancer is admirable. The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic Hospice and the staff at Cleveland Clinic for the care and support they provided to Cindy during the tenure of her illness.

There will be no funeral service. Cindy will be laid to rest next to her mother in a private ceremony with family in attendance.

In lieu of remembrances and to honor her love of veterans, donations can be made to any veteran organization or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 6133 Rockside Rd, Ste 208, Independence, OH 44131.
