Dale Gaston
With shouts of joy, Dale Gaston, 85, was called home to heaven on May 9, 2007, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be united with his beloved wife Eileen. Dale was born June 16, 1921 in Normantown, WV. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the 6th Army division in New Guinea. He worked as a mold finisher for Goodyear, retiring in 1983 with 37 years of service. Dale faithfully served his church, the Akron Baptist Temple, as an usher, assistant treasurer, and camp counselor. He especially enjoyed going to the Manchester football and basketball games. Preceded in death by his parents Ray and Oda; brothers Lyle, Harold, and Eldin; and beloved wife of 61 years, Eileen. He is survived by sons Ronny (Brenda) and Larry (Shirley); daughter Valerie (Al) Houpt; grandchildren Renee, Wendy, Ondrea, and Brian; and great-grandchildren Jordyn, Dylan, Austin, Conner, Noah, London, Micah, and Caleb. Special thanks to Chapel Hill Nursing Home and Janet, Linda, and Rhonda from Barberton Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral service will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at Akron Baptist Temple, 2324 Manchester Rd., Akron. Entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours will be TODAY, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. and Saturday, 10-11 a.m. at the church.
