DAMON L. FLETCHER
Sunrise on January 20,1974 - Sunset on February 25, 2022
Mr. Damon Lamont Fletcher, 48, was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend. His recent battle with serious medical issues showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Damon came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. He left this world on February 25, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Akron, Ohio to Sherry L. Rigby-Gibson and Ricky L. Fletcher, Sr on January 20, 1974. After graduating from high school, Damon made the decision to enlist into the US Army where he bravely served our country and continued his service as a Reservist. It was in his early Army days that he met his wife and best friend, Dot. Their journey took them to various locations throughout the country where Damon admirably finished his education and respectively earned his degree in Biomedical Engineering. He strived to be a role model to his three sons. He was truly a family man and despite his tough, physical exterior he had the most tender, gentle heart and loved fiercely. He was a protector, he was kind, he was accepting, he was generous, he was calm and laid back - he was a good man. You rarely saw him without his little sidekicks, Fiona, and Winston; two Wire-Haired Fox Terriers; he would often dress up.
His hobbies included listening to jazz music, enjoying an exceptional steak with his favorite cocktail; an apple martini, traveling, watching sports especially his favorite teams the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Broncos. Damon was a sneakerhead and enjoyed collecting sneakers. He was so proud of his shoes and would often sit in his walk-in closet to admire his coveted collection.
At the center of Damon's existence was his family. He is survived by his Wife, Dot Halladay-Fletcher; Sons, Damon Fletcher Jr, Tommy Fletcher, and Jordan Fletcher; Godson, Jewell Simpson; Parents, Sherry L. Rigby-Gibson (William) of Cleveland, OH and Ricky L. Fletcher, Sr. of Augusta, GA; Brothers, Ricky L. Fletcher, Jr. of Charlotte NC, Leon A. Fletcher of Ft.
