Daniel J Chisholm, "Danny", 83 of Akron passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 15, 2023.
Born in Akron on April 26, 1939 to Mary Patience and Daniel James Chisholm, he entered this world with a smile on his face
that never left. He graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1957. Danny met his wife Pamela, raised 3 children and were
married 59 years. Little did they know how much their family would blossom over the years.
After spending 18 years at General Tire he went on to ODOT where he retired from. Restless, and at the urging of his wife he
returned to work. Eventually retiring a total of 4 times after working at Penske and Windfall Industries. He would've kept working
if he could have.
What did he enjoy? What didn't he enjoy! He lived life to the fullest. Bowling, softball, fishing, GOLFING, cooking new recipes, relaxing
on his porch, long drives, listening to his 70's music, watching the Browns and Indians, playing Euchre and Rummy, visiting family in Oregon
but most of all spending time with family and friends.
We couldn't have been more blessed to have this man as our Dad, Grandpa, Papa, friend.
He had a unique ability to make everyone feel as though they were his best friend. Always there to lend a helping hand, a bottle of wine,
or a pound of chicken salad. Say his name and everyone will say "his laugh" is what they will remember the most.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Jimmy, son Patrick, and wife Pamela. Daniel will be deeply missed by daughters Christine Breiding
(Tom), Danielle Bashlor. Grandchildren, Daniel Bashlor (Rebecca), Kelsey Adams (Jon), Jacob Swords, Tyler Bashlor (Sarah), Lexi Chisholm,
Jeremy Swords, Dylan Bashlor, Molly Breiding, Beth MacDonald (Peter), Joey Breiding (Ashley). Great-Grandchildren, Grayson, Maddox, Teagan,
Emerson, Harper, Ava, Noah, Skylar, Harrison. Brother, William Chisholm (Corrine), sister, Mary Roberts, sister in laws, Pat Westenbarger,
Jean Spellman (Thom), Vickie Chisholm, brother in law John Seman.
Our Special Thanks
To his son in law aka "My Main Man" Tom Breiding for the laughter, love and friendship. Christy and I have no words to express how thankful
We are for all you for him and us. You may have been the favorite. Also, the the Breiding family members for all their support, food, and bringing communion
to him.
To his brother in law John Seman whom he loved bantering with, taking trips to the casino, and all the dinners at Mike and Mary's house. Thank you all for
your visits.
To his sister in law Pat Westenbarger, he always treasured your adventures and finding new places to eat. It was his mission to find eggs benedict for you.
To Vince Russell, his lifelong best friend. You came as soon as we called you since he had been shielding you from the truth. Those visits meant the world to him.
You lifted his spirit up and for bringing the Boston cream donut.
To Bruce Miller, thank you for all those evening chats. You were a great friend to him. He sure loved going to fish fry dinners with you.
To Carol Galat, you were amazing to our dad. He sure loved your visits and uplifting emails. You were a great friend.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jon Tosino for the many years of care and laughter you provided our parents. You are one of a kind. And to his hospice caregivers
from Genitiva Jen and Billie Jo, thank you for all your patience, understanding and help. Billie Jo, the bond you and he grew was so heartwarming and he loved laughing
during your visits. We will forever cherish you and think of you every spray of cold water.
To Jeremy Swords and Jamie Fritz, who got into town just in time. We struggle to find the words to express how grateful we are for the care you gave Grandpa which
also allowed us to step back from caretaker role to just be in the moment with our dad. He would've been so proud of you as are we.
And a final thank you to Emerson Adams, you brought him such joy those last months. All your cracker and juice lunch dates were just as exciting to him as they were
you.
His daughters Christy and Danielle would like to express what an honor and privilege it was to care for their dad until his passing.
