Daniel Wayne Hostler, 61, of Akron, passed peacefully with his children holding his hands, and his sister Denise by his side on May 18, 2018.
He was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. Dan was a US Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He worked as a commercial electrician for many years, and was always available to share his expertise.
Dan never knew a stranger. He had a heart of gold, an open door for anyone in need, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved all family gatherings and used any excuse to cook, bake, and grill for his loved ones--especially on Thanksgiving.
Dan could entertain you for hours with his stories. He loved telling jokes and was never one to shy away from giving advice or sharing his opinions. Dan was an avid music fan and vinyl collector. He also enjoyed trains, chess, and other games.
Dan was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and games will never be the same without him.
Dan's beautiful brown eyes were so expressive that he could have an entire conversation without words, and you could truly see into his soul. His spirit was so strong that it is forever etched into the core of his loved ones.
Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Elaine VanOrman; sister, Darla Kristine Hostler; and father, Wayne Lamont Hostler.
Dan will be deeply missed by his children, Dustin Wayne (Bobbijo) Hostler, and Danielle Elaine Hostler; sisters, Dora McCain, Denise (Bob) Adkins, Dee Snider, and Dana Barringer; grandsons, Logan Wayne Hostler and Brandon Eugene Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews.
