Daniel W. Long

Daniel "Danny" William Long, 34, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on October 16, 2023. He was born in Akron on May 31, 1989 to John and Martha Long.

Danny is preceded in death by his grandparents John and JoAnn Long and cousin Melissa Jean Long.

Danny is survived by his loving parents John and Martha Long; sister Laura (Dan) Rowe; nieces and nephew Abigail, Daniel and Madison Rowe; grandparents John and Cordia Long; uncles Rick, Terry, Randy and Jimmy (Sherri) Long; aunts Deanna (Greg) Manes and Tina Long; cousins Eric (Erin), Sarah (Alex), Joseph, Curtis (Angela), Christin, Lisa and Jamie; dog Scout; extended family members and friends.

Danny spent his childhood outside, creating obstacle courses, making movies, playing with family and friends, taking family vacations and trips to Geauga Lake. He enjoyed dinosaurs, Pokemon, Godzilla and video games. Danny enjoyed spending time in the garage with his dad, John, long conversations with his mom, Martha, that always ended in a big hug, and growing up with his sweet sister, Laura- they never fought. He loved any memory he could make with his family, especially the holiday get-togethers; Christmas, of course, was his favorite.

Danny graduated from Springfield High School in 2008, where he was a member of the marching band. He was still close with his friends from the band and high school, especially Eric Holman and Cody Marter.

Danny took pride in his work as an electrician, beginning his career in 2009. For 8 of his 13 years as an electrician, he was a member of IBEW Local Union 306. The last company he worked for was S.I.R. Electric, with one of his best friends, Tim. Over the years, he wired hundreds of homes and apartments in the Akron area, and was always willing to help his family and friends with their electrical needs.

In his adult life, Danny enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, karaoke, playing with his nieces and nephew, and smoked BBQ. Danny was proud of his house on Archwood Place in Cuyahoga Falls, which he called home since 2017.

He was creative, intelligent, insightful, reflective, compassionate, self-reliant, kind and humble. He was very tall, with a big heart. May he rest in peace, and know that his family and friends will love him forever, and miss him always.

All are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Friday, October 27th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, October 28th from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 10:30.
