Daniel George Schaeffer

Husband, father, and grandfather, Daniel George Schaeffer entered the loving arms of our heavenly Father on Christmas morning, 2021. He passed away in the comfort of his Ravenna, Ohio home at the age of 72.

Dan was born to Fred and Edna {Eckroate} Schaeffer on July 2, 1949 in Bedford, Ohio. Throughout his life, Dan loved to fish, cook, and work in his garden, but mostly he loved to spread the good news of Jesus Christ's salvation to anyone he encountered. Dan was a loyal and faithful servant of God, with a strong passion to share his faith. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Fix-it," "ho-hum," "bumpa" or simply, "Danny."

In 1976, Dan and Laurie {Bartos} were married and proceeded to have 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and become foster parents to 42 of God's children.

Dan joins his parents Fred and Edna, brothers Fred and Tom, and grandson Silas in heaven. He is survived by his loving wife Laurie; children Heather (Jay) Stafinsky, Amanda (Jason) Stewart, Adam (Elizabeth) Schaeffer, Russell (Ashley) Schaeffer; grandchildren Rayleigh, Derik, Joel, Erica, Micah, Noah, Judah, Layna, Cora, Ezra, Isla and Lola as well as siblings Rita Bogucki and Al Schaeffer.

Loved ones are welcome to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, 44035 on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 7 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside committal at Greenwood Cemetery, Mogadore, where Dan will be laid to rest.
