Daniel L. Spitznas, 60, passed away August 15, 2022 after a two year battle with Mac Lung Disease in his home in Green, Ohio, with his family and friends by his side. Daniel was born on May 10, 1962 to Charles and Edna Spitznas. He graduated from Green High School in 1981, where he continued his passion for construction, which he started at the age of fourteen. Daniel's first job was with Job-Rite Pools and then he spent the next eighteen years at Terry Price Construction. Daniel concluded his love of operating machinery and pouring concrete with Jenco Construction. During his forty-six years of employment, he made lifelong friends and earned the respect of so many of his peers that they nicknamed him "Murdoc". He was described as a skilled laborer, operator and took great pride in all he did.
When Dan was not at the job site, he enjoyed the outdoors, four wheeling, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, pool time with his family and drinking a cold Bud Light. All that knew him loved his unique sense of humor and storytelling. Towards the end of Daniel's illness, he continued to make everyone around him laugh and that is why he was loved by so many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Virgle and Jennie Hoskins; sister Debi Cook, brother-in-law Matthew Addy, step brother Mark McPherson and best friend Barry Teague. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 33 years, Nancy; son, Jared and daughter Jenna; siblings, David (Ruth) Spitznas, Deanna (Paul) Ake, Doreen Addy and Dennis Spitznas; niece, Jessi Ake; nephew, Kevin (Shannan) Ake, Martin L.A. Gaspersz and great nephews Benny and Karson Ake; best friends, Jeff and JD Hill, Larry Anderson and Jerry James; and his fur babies Gigi and Lilly.
Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will take place on Monday, August 22 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens in North Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cleveland Clinic Hospice.
