Darlene Ann Johnston

Darlene Ann Johnston, 65, of Akron, passed away on February 21, 2012. She was born in Akron on August 2, 1946 to the late Frederick and Betty Cox. Throughout her life, Darlene was very involved in her children's schools. She served as a PTA mom and a band mom and she was "Mama J" to many children other than her own. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 44 years, Gil Johnston; children, Traci (Ryan) Ankeny, Jason (Carmella) Johnston, Pamela (Ron) Boyd and Barbara Frame; grandchildren, Luke Frame, Corey Johnston (fiancee Rachel Mahnich, and great-grandchild on the way) Jessica Frame, Dustyn Parcell (Taylor Cole), Marlena Frame, Ashley Ankeny, Matthew Mayfield, and Jared Ankeny; special lifelong friends, Angie Kennedy and Carol Manzo. Special thanks to the loving angel at Hospice Care Center. Calling hours will be TODAY, 5 to 8 pm, at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
