Darlene J. Busse

Darlene Busse, 81, of Akron, Ohio passed away on December 24, 2023. She was brought into this world on June 24, 1942 and was one of three children born to Dennis O. Wood and Mary Magdalene Wood. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1960.

Darlene was a quiet woman who loved animals, especially horses. It was at the tender age of 10 that she learned to ride horses at Kiddie Land park in Springfield Township. She had a room in her home dedicated to hose every kind and of various sizes. Stray cats and dogs loved her. It was her mission to feed as many as came to her doorstep.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Busse, her parents, Dennis and Mary Magdalene Wood, and her brother, Dennis L. Wood. She is survived by her sister, JoAnn Criss (Ronald), a stepson, Tim Busse, 6 nieces and 1 nephew.

Darlene was a faithful member of the Brown Street Church of Christ in Akron, Ohio. She took her responsibilities as a Christian seriously and devoted her time and energy to visiting those who were sick and those who were unable to leave their homes. This was her practice until she was no longer allowed to drive. She will be greatly missed by her church family.

Visitation will be held on January 3rd, Wednesday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 1:00pm with Don Wright officiating.
Interment will be held at Hillside Memorial Park.
