Darold L. Zickefoose

Darold L. "Ziggy" Zickefoose, 79, passed away on June 25th, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born November 19, 1937 to Ulisses and Edna Zickefoose. He graduated from Springfield High School and then went on to work at R.F. Cook Mfg. and retired after 45 years of service. Darold enjoyed singing in the choir and was a faithful trustee at Victory Baptist Church where he was a member for many years. Ziggy also was a member of the Studebaker Club and enjoyed working on his 1947 truck. They loved to travel and he put many miles on their motorhome travelling the US and also enjoyed many trips overseas. We have so many wonderful memories of the picnics and reunions that he and mom hosted and of all the hundreds of pounds of fudge made over the fire. He was a family man and enjoyed when we were all together. He was truly loved and will be missed.

Darold was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Sarah. He is survived by loving wife of 56 years, Oretha Jean; children, Debbie Harper of Akron, Lela (Ken) Marana of Brimfield, Keith (Sandy) of Tallmadge, Gina (John) Darmstadt of Akron; brother, Duwane (Rosie); sister, Cherie (Eugene) of Indiana. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 4-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Victory Baptist Temple, 4167 Ohio 43, Brimfield at 12:30pm with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery to follow.
