Darrell R. Akers
Darrell R. Akers, 73, of Akron, passed away May 25, 2008. Darrell was born June 1, 1934 in Beckley, West Virginia. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. He retired from City Car Releasing. In his free time, Darrell enjoyed crafting and gardening, also riding his John Deere tractor. He was like a father to many people and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda; children, Pat (Donald) Jones, Carlene Akers, Diane Farley, Dewey Akers, Theresa (Glenn) Barber, and Terry Akers; siblings, Danny, Don, Dale, Dreama, Deana, and Delmar; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda White; son, Darrell Akers, Jr.; and brother, Dorman Akers. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
