Darrell D. Slider

On August 5, 2017 Darrell D. Slider lost his battle with cancer surrounded by his loved ones. As with all things in his life, he was strong willed, hard working and determined to beat the odds. Throughout his fight he was able to make lasting memories with his family and live life to his fullest. Camping, watching his grandchildren play sports, and spoiling the ones he loved the most (including his cats) brought Darrell the greatest joy in life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; his twin sister, Doris; and twin daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 40 years, Cindy; son, Keith (Samantha); daughter, Megan (Omar); grandchildren, Katie, Savannah, Jax and Alexia; brothers, Kenneth and Donald; supporter, Bill W. of 11 years; and numerous relatives including in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to all of the nurses that helped him through his battle at Summa Health.

Family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday August 9, 2017 from 4-7pm with a Celebration of Life beginning at 7pm at Springfield Church of the Brethren 3500 Albrecht Ave. Akron, OH 44312. Pastor Alan Brumbaugh officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Darrell's memory may be sent to Stewart's Caring Place.
