Darryl L. Walker, "Big D", age 51 of Akron, Ohio, died on Monday, December 18, 2017.
He was born on October 15, 1966 in Akron, the son of the late Woody and Willa Mae (nee McCalister) Walker.
Big D was a drug counselor at RAMAR for 3 years and also an assistant teacher at Phoenix School for 2 years. He was the CEO at D&E Transportation, here in Akron, with his wife, Elesha.
Survivors include his wife, the former Elesha Griffin, whom he married on October 28, 2006; his son, Jamar Walker; his grandchildren, Jayce Walker and Niera Stevens; his step-children, Kevin, Kelly, Kia, and Kyle Griffin; and his 17 step-grandchildren. His brothers and sisters also survive, Norma Darnell, Kelvin Walker, Felicia Purefoy-Walker, Renee Walker, Kimberly Walker, and Stacey (Kamela) Walker; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his aunts and uncle, Lucy McCalister, and Ernest (Isabelle) McCalister.
Memorial services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 12:00 PM.
Family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
