Daveene Lynn Egbert, 69, of Akron, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2021, in her home surrounded by her family. Daveene was born in Barberton, Ohio on December 31, 1951 to the late Barbara (Oyler) and Clarence David Egbert.
She was a determined woman with a strong work ethic who spent a number of years managing Terrace Gardens, as well as working in various other restaurants in the Akron area.
Throughout her life, Daveene collected a variety of skills from her many hobbies. She was a talented crocheter who spent many hours crocheting beautiful hats, gloves, and slippers that she loved to give to those around her. She was a fantastic cook who loved researching new recipes and cooking techniques. Daveene had an immense love for animals and over the years she took great pride in breeding and raising numerous dogs, as well as caring for a variety of birds and fish.
Always a strong willed woman, Daveene was never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind. She enjoyed reminiscing stories, playing the harmonica for her beloved Chihuahua, Bebe, and watching movies (she never turned down an opportunity to watch Scarface).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Robin Sherrard; brother-in-law, Michael Sherrard; nephew, Michael Sherrard II; and cousin, Allen Deichert.
Daveene will be deeply missed by her son, David Egbert; granddaughter, Andrea (David Frentzel) Egbert; sisters, Marianne (Daniel) Nau, and Sheryl Trent; cousins, Mark (Becky) Deichert, Steven, Vanessa, Brian Georges, Melissa Margreece, nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Paul); Josh (Sara); Tiffany, Nathan, Dylan, Lauren, Landon, Brody, Preston, Harper, and Ella; and her beloved sidekick, Bebe.
Private services for Daveene have taken place. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for their compassion and care during this time.
