David H. Arnott passed away at his home August 7th with family by his side. David was a kind man that demonstrated abundant compassion, generosity, a smile and a subtle sense of humor that charmed all who knew him. Born in Akron, to William and Belva Margaret (Paxton) Arnott, he spent much of his childhood years recovering from polio. Never one to complain or let his disability define him, he played Little League Baseball for the Akron Yankees and lettered in swimming at Garfield High School. After Garfield he attended Ohio Northern University, earning a degree in Pharmacy. Upon graduation he married, Janis (Schoen) from Kenmore. Together the two of them demonstrated the devotion and commitment needed for a successful marriage. Every marriage has some hardship; however the Ohio High School Athletic Association intervened with a State Football Playoff thus ending the City Series Turkey Day dominance of Kenmore by Garfield. David's pharmacy career started in Vermillion Ohio. He then worked at Green Cross Hospital, and several retail pharmacies most notably Y-Mart in Cuyahoga Falls, and Rite Pharmacy on Kenmore Blvd.
Besides his wife Janis he leaves behind his sons James of Akron, Dr. Jon (Lori) of Canfield their children John and Jessica, his brother the Reverend William (Gloria) of Trafford, Pennsylvania, and his brother and best friend Fred of Akron. Calling hours will be Monday, 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 10-11 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., Rev. William Arnott officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army 190 South Maple St. Akron, OH 44302. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 330-784-3334.
