David Lee Dalton, 77, went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2021.
He was born in Hammond, Indiana to Kenneth and Betty (Williams) Dalton. David was the eldest of four siblings. As the son of a Baptist minister, he moved several times while growing up - living in Indiana, Massachusetts, and New Jersey before moving to Southern California where he would eventually meet his wife. David and his wife, Louisajaynne "L J", moved to Ohio in 1981.
David was a U.S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was a Gunner's mate on his ship and was part of the Gulf of Tonkin incident.
In 1981, he accepted a position with Goodyear Aerospace to be a part of the Centrifuge Program which brought him to Ohio. He then worked with the airship program, designing the electrical distribution system for the Goodyear Blimps.
While in California, David enjoyed sky diving - many times for competition. He enjoyed water skiing and boating on the Colorado River and along the southern coast of California near Long Beach and Huntington Beach.
After moving to Ohio, Dave spent time enjoying the outdoors, playing his dulcimer, and photography. He has many albums of family as well as wildlife and the many flowers he grew in his garden. He enjoyed designing and creating furniture, and making other wood creations.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by grandma, Betty Duffy as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other members of "The Dalton Gang".
He will be missed by his wife of 41 years - Louisajaynne; children Nathan Dalton, Jess Dalton, and Amie (Steve) Payne; grandchildren Sydney Dalton, Myles Dalton, Jack Payne, Ellie Payne, Liam Payne, Delilah Payne; siblings Roger (Sue) Dalton, Patricia Mork, Debra (Michael) Stormes.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, April 27 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Calling hours are 11am-1pm, with service at 1pm. Due to Covid 19 concerns please expect to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's name to Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.
