David F. Donel, 80, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2018 surrounded by family . A longtime resident of Summit County, he was born March 11, 1938 in Clarksburg, WV. The greatest joys of David's life were his wife of 60 years, Judy, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and countless friends. He never knew a stranger. David will be remembered for his kindness, selfless nature and sense of humor. He was never without a joke. David reached the rank of Eagle Scout and proudly served for 8 years in the Army National Guard. He worked for and retired from Akron Standard Mold after 38 years of service where he was general manager of Industrial Artcraft. David was also a member of the Mantua Chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Thelma Donel, and son-in-law, Dan Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; children, David (Nancy) Donel, Cindy Brown, Susan (Tim) Sampson; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy Hetzel, Robert (Judy) Donel, Roger (Joy) Donel; and lifetime friend, Don Hiney.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Saturday, December 22 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Memorial service at 7pm. Fr. Lee Martin officiating.
