David Dorain Ruddock
Dorain Ruddock, 64, passed away July 1, 2009. He was born in Akron on August 8, 1944. A U.S. Army veteran, he was stationed in Korea and later served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed as a glass cutter for PPG and later as a long distance driver for Consolidated Freight. He was a past president of the Glazers and Glasscutters 1162, past commander of Army Navy Garrison 273, and a member of the Airport VFW. In his free time he was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Dorain was preceded in death by his parents, David and Dorothy and brother, Dean. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shelly; son, Ray (Beth) Martin; daughters, Sheila (Burl) Schaffer, Shiree (Terry) Swain, and Shorain (Cory) McGhee; sister, Darlene Kausch; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family would like to thank all the special people at Akron City Hospital for their care. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., Pastor Jerry Chase officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park with military honors provided by Army Navy Garrison 273. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MS Society.
