David E. Jones

David E. Jones, 76, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at his home in Suffield. He was born September 18, 1937 in Akron to the late Jesse and Garnet Jones. David graduated from North High School Class of '55, joined the U.S. Marine Corps and retired after 30 years as a Lieutenant with the City of Akron Police Department. He was a member of Wayfarer Masonic Lodge #0789, he loved bowling, working in the yard and mowing on his tractor. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

David is survived by his loving wife of nearly 57 years Judy, children; Sharon (Randall) Routh, James and Gregory Jones, grandchildren; Michelle (Shawn) Brantanter, Christina (Derek) Acker, David Routh, Jamie (Sean) Corner, Matthew (Lena) Jones and Andrew (Brittney) Jones, 6 great grandchildren, brother Thomas Jones and sister Judy Hazard.

Friends and family may call 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. following visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Suffield Twp Fire & Rescue or Safety Forces Chaplaincy Center.
