David H. McNeil

David H. McNeil, 85, of Akron, passed away May 14, 2008 at Alter Care of Cuyahoga Falls. He was born December 24, 1922 in Glasgow Scotland to the late Joseph & Jesse (Hogg) McNeil. David attended Springfield High School where he was an outstanding athlete, playing football and basketball. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII in the European Theater. He later went to work for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company before retiring after 30 years of service. David was also an outstanding bowler and golfer. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Howard and brothers, Joe and Neal McNeil. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Mae) McNeil; daughter, Judy L. McNeil; son, David (Bobbi) McNeil; grandchildren, Brian McNeil, Michael (Brenda) McGhee and Matthew (Terry) McGhee; great-grandchild, Ryley McGhee; brother, Bill McNeil. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 - 5 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
