David R. Lacy, Sr., 66, was born December 24, 1953 in Akron, Ohio to Washington Lacy Jr. and Annie L. Lacy, the third of six children. He passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020, after a long illness.
David was a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Garfield High School, Class of 1972, where he was on the Track Team. He studied Law/Criminal Justice at Ashland University. Over the years he held various jobs, working at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as a Mill Operator/Tow Motor/Banbury Operator; Lou & Hy's Deli; and the Serene Acres Alpaca Farm.
David, who liked to call himself "Mac Daddy", had a larger-than-life personality. He never met a stranger, always making a friend of anyone he met. He believed that his mission in life was to make people laugh and he was a master at it. He had an enthusiastic laugh himself that he shared with everyone, even during the last days of his illness. He was intelligent, kind, compassionate, and loyal; always a true friend.
He enjoyed watching television, movies, and sports events; and he was a huge Star Trek fan! He also enjoyed listening to talk radio. David loved animals. His current fur kids were Tiberius (the Goofy Dog) and Chester (the Fat Cat). He liked listening to music, especially old school R&B and the Canton Spirituals.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Washington Jr. and Annie Lacy; his wife of 19 years, Susan Lacy, who sadly passed away just two weeks ago; and brothers, Bruce A. Lacy and Charles D. Lacy. He leaves to cherish his memory; sister, Cynthia Y. Shotwell; brothers, Washington Lacy III; and Ray P. Lacy (Leslie) of Winston-Salem NC; sons, David R. Lacy, Jr. (LaTorria), and Cameron Lacy, Sr. (LaTasha); daughters, Jocelyn Graham (Michael), of Upper Marlboro, MD; and Nicole Tolbert (Gregory Jr.); grandchildren, DaMyric, DaMylan and Alaijah Tolbert; Melijah, Talijah and Telijah Lacy; Raven, Cameron Jr., and Carmen Lacy.; great-grandchildren, Imani, Riley, Journei, DaMylah, and Jordan; special cousins, Jackie and Gina Parker; and Kristy Flanagan, all of Chattanooga TN; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a large number of extended family and friends.
Rest Easy, David. We'll Miss You. We Love You.
