David Lee Chewning was born on March 1, 1959 in Maebe, WV. He lost his battle to cancer on June 29, 2013.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Logan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gina; children, Drew and Tori; their lovable furbabies, Joe, Toby, Simba, and Chase; their three cats, Spike, Bailey, and Sophie; two birds, Shadow and Phoebe; brothers, Jimmie (Cindy), Eddie, Rick (Patty) and Mark; sisters, Linda (Bob) and Sharon; mother and father-in-law, Debbie and Phil Pitkin; brothers-in-law, Paul (Andrea) Malagrida and Jordon (Lisa) Malagrida; sisters-in-law, Michelle (Steven) Conley and Ronda Chewning; special friends, Carol Looney and her children, and Brian Breeden; special niece, Gianna; and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A special thanks to Dr. Hazra, her staff at Parkview Center, the nurses at Barberton Hospital and the wonderful Summa Hospice team who took care of Dave. We will be forever grateful.
Our life together ended much too soon…until we meet again, my love.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5-8 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4700 S. Main St., Akron, 44319, with Pastor Dennis Engler officiating.
